    Choosing Between This Fabric and Our Blackout Linen-Like Line

    Our IFR linen-like curtain fabric is 100% IFR polyester and can be supplied with an optional hotel blackout backing, which is different from choosing our dedicated IFR linen-like blackout curtain fabric, built as a three-layer construction with a black silk core. Both give a linen-like face and inherent flame retardancy, but they reach blackout performance differently, and that difference affects weight, drape and how the fabric hangs.

    Use this fabric with the backing added when you want the linen-like face fabric to lead and darkness to come from a separate layer behind it, which keeps the visible side lighter and more textile in hand. Choose the dedicated blackout line when you want the shading built into a single fabric from the start, which suits large orders where one specification needs to cover the fire, shading and appearance requirement together.     What Cationic Yarn and Air-Compression Yarn Actually Change

    The two-tone, linen-like look of this fabric comes from cationic yarn, which is dyed by a different process than ordinary polyester yarn and takes color slightly differently along the fiber, producing the subtle tonal variation that reads as a woven, natural texture rather than a flat, single-color surface. The fabric also uses air-compression deformation yarn, a textured yarn processed to add bulk and crimp rather than lying flat, which is what gives the finished fabric its resistance to wrinkling and its ability to drape rather than sit stiffly.

    These are yarn-level choices, not a surface finish, so the texture and drape do not wash or wear off the way a coating might. When comparing a linen-look fabric between suppliers, ask whether the texture comes from the yarn itself or from a printed or embossed surface, since the two age very differently after years of cleaning and handling.
